Who we are

Black Leather Bakery is a passion project started by head chef Anna Artinger and their partner Chris Martinez based in Astoria, Queens.

Anna started their hospitality career with front-of-house restaurant work throughout their undergrad degree. They continued their education at the Institute of Culinary Education graduating with a degree in Pastry Arts. Anna has worked with award-winning custom cake shop A Love for Cakes honing their cake work and design skills. They have also worked with one of NYC’s oldest chocolate shops, Aigner Chocolates, where they have fine-tuned their chocolate and confectionery skills while having the opportunity to work with antique equipment and learn legacy practices.

Chris may be new to the art of pastry, but he has a passion for learning. Under the guidance of head baker Anna, he’s practicing the delicate techniques of baking while also bringing a unique twist to the creative process. With a background in engineering, Chris applies his technical expertise to design and manufacture custom molds, ensuring all our pastries, cookies, and confections are as visually stunning as they are delicious.
